Next Workshop Announced!
We are happy to announce that our next workshop ‘Foley Artist Theater’ will be held Sunday, May 22 from 12 - 4 at the Woods! To get an idea of what we do, take a look at the photos (see link above) and video (see post below) from our first workshop ‘Make Your Own Junkyard Band’! The application for ‘Foley Artist Theater’ will be available very soon. In the meantime, take a look at the wonderful flyer the amazing Amy Ruppel made for us. You can see her art all over Portland, on the Friends of Trees signs in peoples’ yards, in Whole Foods, and now on our wonderful new flyer! Thanks Amy!!!

Workshop #2 - Foley Artist Theater - Postponed
Hey everyone.
Due to a lack of enrollment, we have postponed our March 13th workshop ‘Foley Artist Theater’ until further notice. Hopefully we will be up and running again in April!

Workshop #2 - Foley Artist Theater!
Our second workshop is coming right up! This Sunday, March 13th!
Come create, learn, and have fun with us!
Calling all kids in the Portland area ages 8 -13!
Build creatures out of mixed materials, learn about foley artistry (the art of making sound effects for theater and film), and put the two together to create a performance which we will film!
If you want to attend you can just show up! We will have applications available to be filled out on site. The workshop takes place at The Woods from noon - 4. Please come 15 minutes early if you need to fill out an application. You can also download, print out, and fill out the application from this website, and bring it with you when you attend.

Workshop #2 - Foley Artist Theater!
Our second workshop is coming right up! This Sunday March 13th! We are really excited about it. And we have made a few changes! We have opened up our workshop to 8 - 13 year olds instead of 9 - 12 year olds! Also we are in the process of making an online application that you can fill out and email to us right on the site!

explore the world of foley artistry ( the art of creating
incidental sounds such as footsteps) and then use both to create
an improvised theater piece!

WORKSHOP #1: MAKE YOUR OWN JUNKYARD BAND
This February 27th, 2011, The Woods music venue in Sellwood will host the first of what will become a bi-monthly workshop for kids called the Young Artists Workshop. Created and taught by local musicians/educators Rachel Blumberg, Seth Mankoski and Matthew Berger, Y.A.W. is a mixed-media arts workshop for 8-13 year olds. Each workshop’s unique curriculum will focus on incorporating art, music, film, performance and more. The first workshop, entitled “Make Your Own Junkyard Band,” will consist of instrument building with recycled materials, song-writing, learning to play with a band and a live performance on a professional stage.
Y.A.W. is looking forward to working with the Portland community in a space as incredible as The Woods. There are lots of fun workshops and special guest artists in store for the coming months.
